life so far.....

so i know that i haven't written in a while so i thought i would update you all on my life so far.  the last time i wrote was when Barack Obama won the election.  since then i celebrated my 22 birthday and thanksgiving....all on the same day.  i was reunited with an old friend the day before my birthday, and that was one of the best birthday presents ever.  i am so thankful that i have the friends that i do, and so glad that i am being reconnected with the friends that i have lost.  i was also able to meet mr. and mrs. manker.  i am so glad that i was able to spend some time with them, they are both such loving and knowledgeable people that i have met.  my cousin emily and i both agree that B3 is so funny, he was able to catch on right away that emily and i are not the most eloquent people that you could meet.  he was able to jump on board and join the family in making fun of us.  they both fit into our family so perfectly.  i can not write this without saying a big congratulations to ben and kate to the new arrival of their beautiful little boy archie.  he is so cute and can not wait to meet him and his lovely parents.  good luck to the both of you!!!

i have also been trying to finish this semester without losing my mind.  last week was by far the worst one i have had this whole semester.  i was finally given the chance to act like a real student.  i don't think that i have ever spent so much time at the library than i did last week.  i wrote two 8-10 research papers with in a 72 hour time period.  i really do wish that i had started all that earlier.  other than school i was able to celebrate my roommates birthday last night, we had a wonderful dinner at olive garden and a couple beers when we got back to our apartment.  anyway, as of thursday at 10 i will be done with this semester, and i will be able to go home for a good week then back down to cape for a great christmas party and work.  keep you guys updated.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

all i want to say is that i am soooo happy that our new president is BARACK OBAMA......and all you people out there that did not vote for him or do not necessarily like him....you can still respect him cause he IS our new president and he worked hard for this position.  i also want to say that john mccain had a great campaign and as barack said we ARE a better country for having mccain, he is a GREAT man and also deserves our respect......so deal with it......

another things is......we all just witnessed history....be thankful for that cause it might not happen for a long time to come!!!!

shakespeare

i am currently taking a shakespeare literature class and i have fallen back in LOVE with dear william.  i am on my third play of the semester and my favorite so far.  Much Ado About Nothing my mother is the reason i love this play.  it is one of my favorite movies as well.  i do have to say though that i do not think that i am getting all of the hidden messages in his plays yet.  I love shakespeare's humor, it is almost always sexual but i still don't get all of it.  i do feel like kind of an idiot when my teacher and the rest of the class starts laughing and i have no idea whats going on.  anyway im an still enjoying this class and i feel like i am getting smarter by reading all of these plays.

HEART has stolen my HEART!!!

last Saturday night two of my roommates and i went and saw the heart and journey concert.  it could have easily been the BEST concert that i have ever seen.  everything was on our side that night.  we had heard rumors that it was going to rain something like 6-8 inches, this made us all very scared (especially steph cause her hair would end up frizzy).  the rain missed us by barely a half a mile.  when we were leaving the street leading to the highway was drenched.  heart was AMAZING. i have never been a huge heart fan until this past year.  my dear roomie steph has always loved them and just recently got me addicted to them.  it was so cool to see two sisters singing together.  you could just tell that they loved what they do and each other.  i think that Laura and i should start up a band.  i don't know who would sing but bernie could be our back up dancer.  i am still working out the details, but we would totally be a sensation.  we could even call ourselves the schrute farms musicians....again im still working out the kinks....any suggestions would be great!!!

YAY!!!!!

so i have some AMAZING news (which the only people who read my blog already know) but i don't care....my sister and her absolutely amazing boyfriend are ENGAGED!!!!!  yay for laura and bernie!!! i am soo excited for bernie to become my NEW brother hahaha...and for his lovely family to join ours.  anyway congrats to laura and bernie (and guapa) but also to the manker and hinkson clan!!!!!

school starts!!!

so school has finally started and i am still getting used to homework and NO sleep.  i have never had a full load of school hours and an almost full time job before and it is no easy task.  the only good thing to this is that i do feel more energized and i love the feeling of money in my wallet. the majority of my classes are a lot of fun and for the first time in a long time i actually like going to most of them.  i am taking a printmaking class and all i have to say is that i cant wait to get started on all the fun new things that i can do.  there are a lot of large scary machines in the classroom but as my teacher told me yesterday  "don't worry allison....we wont leave YOU alone with the machines....we know how you tend to hurt yourself" that sort of made me feel better but not really.  anyway i am also taking a shakespeare class and i LOVE it.  i am almost done with taming of the shrew (which always makes me think of my sister and her friends) and it has quickly become my new favorite shakespeare play.  then the ultimate class RENAISSANCE HISTORY  i know i sound like a complete dork but laura will back me up on this one.....it is so much fun to learn about all of the beautiful paintings.....and the medici's for laura.  anyway i think this will be a good semester if it does not kill me first.  

TOM PETTY

so my friend and i went to the tom petty concert last night and it was AMAZING!! tom was definitely on top of his game last night and i know that it was because mar and i were there.  the only down side to our night was after the concert when we went out to downtown st. charles.  let me just give you all fair warning.....i have NEVER been to a place where soo many girls actually wanted to provoke a fight with complete strangers.  they were all lucky because i had just seen my long lost love tom before hand so non of them were hurt.  but they could have been for the shit that they were pulling on my and my friends.  anyway end note.......TOM PETTY is awesome
