life so far.....

so i know that i haven't written in a while so i thought i would update you all on my life so far.  the last time i wrote was when Barack Obama won the election.  since then i celebrated my 22 birthday and thanksgiving....all on the same day.  i was reunited with an old friend the day before my birthday, and that was one of the best birthday presents ever.  i am so thankful that i have the friends that i do, and so glad that i am being reconnected with the friends that i have lost.  i was also able to meet mr. and mrs. manker.  i am so glad that i was able to spend some time with them, they are both such loving and knowledgeable people that i have met.  my cousin emily and i both agree that B3 is so funny, he was able to catch on right away that emily and i are not the most eloquent people that you could meet.  he was able to jump on board and join the family in making fun of us.  they both fit into our family so perfectly.  i can not write this without saying a big congratulations to ben and kate to the new arrival of their beautiful little boy archie.  he is so cute and can not wait to meet him and his lovely parents.  good luck to the both of you!!!

i have also been trying to finish this semester without losing my mind.  last week was by far the worst one i have had this whole semester.  i was finally given the chance to act like a real student.  i don't think that i have ever spent so much time at the library than i did last week.  i wrote two 8-10 research papers with in a 72 hour time period.  i really do wish that i had started all that earlier.  other than school i was able to celebrate my roommates birthday last night, we had a wonderful dinner at olive garden and a couple beers when we got back to our apartment.  anyway, as of thursday at 10 i will be done with this semester, and i will be able to go home for a good week then back down to cape for a great christmas party and work.  keep you guys updated.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

all i want to say is that i am soooo happy that our new president is BARACK OBAMA......and all you people out there that did not vote for him or do not necessarily like him....you can still respect him cause he IS our new president and he worked hard for this position.  i also want to say that john mccain had a great campaign and as barack said we ARE a better country for having mccain, he is a GREAT man and also deserves our respect......so deal with it......

another things is......we all just witnessed history....be thankful for that cause it might not happen for a long time to come!!!!

shakespeare

i am currently taking a shakespeare literature class and i have fallen back in LOVE with dear william.  i am on my third play of the semester and my favorite so far.  Much Ado About Nothing my mother is the reason i love this play.  it is one of my favorite movies as well.  i do have to say though that i do not think that i am getting all of the hidden messages in his plays yet.  I love shakespeare's humor, it is almost always sexual but i still don't get all of it.  i do feel like kind of an idiot when my teacher and the rest of the class starts laughing and i have no idea whats going on.  anyway im an still enjoying this class and i feel like i am getting smarter by reading all of these plays.

HEART has stolen my HEART!!!

last Saturday night two of my roommates and i went and saw the heart and journey concert.  it could have easily been the BEST concert that i have ever seen.  everything was on our side that night.  we had heard rumors that it was going to rain something like 6-8 inches, this made us all very scared (especially steph cause her hair would end up frizzy).  the rain missed us by barely a half a mile.  when we were leaving the street leading to the highway was drenched.  heart was AMAZING. i have never been a huge heart fan until this past year.  my dear roomie steph has always loved them and just recently got me addicted to them.  it was so cool to see two sisters singing together.  you could just tell that they loved what they do and each other.  i think that Laura and i should start up a band.  i don't know who would sing but bernie could be our back up dancer.  i am still working out the details, but we would totally be a sensation.  we could even call ourselves the schrute farms musicians....again im still working out the kinks....any suggestions would be great!!!

YAY!!!!!

so i have some AMAZING news (which the only people who read my blog already know) but i don't care....my sister and her absolutely amazing boyfriend are ENGAGED!!!!!  yay for laura and bernie!!! i am soo excited for bernie to become my NEW brother hahaha...and for his lovely family to join ours.  anyway congrats to laura and bernie (and guapa) but also to the manker and hinkson clan!!!!!

school starts!!!

so school has finally started and i am still getting used to homework and NO sleep.  i have never had a full load of school hours and an almost full time job before and it is no easy task.  the only good thing to this is that i do feel more energized and i love the feeling of money in my wallet. the majority of my classes are a lot of fun and for the first time in a long time i actually like going to most of them.  i am taking a printmaking class and all i have to say is that i cant wait to get started on all the fun new things that i can do.  there are a lot of large scary machines in the classroom but as my teacher told me yesterday  "don't worry allison....we wont leave YOU alone with the machines....we know how you tend to hurt yourself" that sort of made me feel better but not really.  anyway i am also taking a shakespeare class and i LOVE it.  i am almost done with taming of the shrew (which always makes me think of my sister and her friends) and it has quickly become my new favorite shakespeare play.  then the ultimate class RENAISSANCE HISTORY  i know i sound like a complete dork but laura will back me up on this one.....it is so much fun to learn about all of the beautiful paintings.....and the medici's for laura.  anyway i think this will be a good semester if it does not kill me first.  

TOM PETTY

so my friend and i went to the tom petty concert last night and it was AMAZING!! tom was definitely on top of his game last night and i know that it was because mar and i were there.  the only down side to our night was after the concert when we went out to downtown st. charles.  let me just give you all fair warning.....i have NEVER been to a place where soo many girls actually wanted to provoke a fight with complete strangers.  they were all lucky because i had just seen my long lost love tom before hand so non of them were hurt.  but they could have been for the shit that they were pulling on my and my friends.  anyway end note.......TOM PETTY is awesome

sigh of relief

so my new roommate has moved in and i have never seen the place cleaner.  it took us a good six hours just to clean the old roommates room before we could move our new one in.  just to let you know that the job was not one for the faint of heart.  i felt so bad for brando's (the new roommate) mom, she was the one who was doing most of the cleaning.  anyway im gonna try to get some pictures of the new and improved apt. up here soon so you all can see how wonderful it looks.  we bought some great things and it really has never looked better.

pain in my neck!!

so the day is almost here when my (very messy) roommate will be leaving us forever.......i have now realized that the pain in my neck ( and i do mean this literally) is coming from all of the stress and my roommate is causing me.  she could quite very well be the messiest person that i have ever met.  i have never and i mean NEVER seen her put a dish in the dishwasher or vacum the carpet once.  she loves to drink and with friends.  there is no problem there but it becomes my problem when i get home from work (where i clean up after people) and there is a lovely mess just waiting for me to clean up.  i just love the feel of dried, sticky alcohol on my counters and all over my cups.  but what can i say now....she will be gone tom. and maybe my pain in the neck will go away? but i will not know until the wonderful departure of the messiest roommate alive will leave my apt. tom.

graduate programs

so i have now started the long journey into finding the right university to finish my schooling.  this is only stressing me out because of my lack of knowledge into what i need to do.  i wish i could just go back three years and pick this as my first major and there would be NO problem.  oh well from what i have found there are a lot of great places to finish this kind of degree and it is one of the most up and coming careers today.  hopefully all goes well so wish me luck as i try to figure out what it is i need to do.......to be continued 

art therapy!!

so i am now on my 6th major and feel like i am still trying to figure out what i want to do with my life.  a friend of my mothers just told her of an excited new job that i might be interested in at that is art therapy.  i am excited about being able to in compass all of the things that interest me like psychology, art and the ability to work with children.  i have always wanted to be able to work with kids and help make a difference in their lives and using art to do this is only too exciting to me.  i just hope that i will be able to reach this new goal of mine but we will just have to see.  this new job is requiring me to get my masters but that is just the right excuse for me to go and force me to get it.  if anyone has any information on art therapy and would like to share it with me that would be GREAT!!

boys (who understands them?)

i just want to say that i just dont understand some boys....i only say this because a very close friend of mine is some what in the middle of a break up but the boy will not just end it.  his excuse for wanting out is so that he can get back with his ex but told her he still likes her and does not want to break up. he pretty much told her that he WILL cheat on her in a week when he and the ex go on a trip and some how thinks this will seem much  less brutal if he just tells her first. i am just so sick and tired of boys not knowing what they want and then get girls to date them just to break their hearts a few weeks later.  save us the trouble and if you are confused there is NOTHING that we can do to help you so stay away!!!! this just pisses me off.

jason bateman (my love)

so i thought i would just let everyone know of my undying love for jason bateman.  i have been watching the arrested development reruns and i just can not get enough of him.  p.s. i am still real pissed that they cancelled that show....it was the BEST show on television (other than the office of course) and i dont understand how it got no viewers.  i just saw his new movie hancock and it is soo funny.  i love will smith and him and jason together make a really good looking team.  i wish that they would do more movies together but it is just like a double bonus i get to look at two HOT!! guys that are hilarious.  i just saw news that they are making a movie on arrested development and it should be coming out either late this year or next year.  i just hope that they can make the movie as good as the show was.  they HAVE to have ron howard as the narrator and the producer because if it is not then it will not be worth seeing. anyway i cant wait for theat to come out .
